The gardens of heaven will flourish with the loving hands of Salvatore.  Peacefully called to heaven from his home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Salvatore was a man of deep religious faith, committed to his family, he greeted each day with passion, integrity, humour and a genuine joy for life.  He opened his home to all with an infectious smile and offers of wine and food.  His strength and courage during his illness astounded all.  Born September 26, 1929 to Caterina and Nicola in Simbario, Italy.  Loving husband and companion to Concetta for 56 years.  Devoted and selfless father to Catherine Vaillancourt (Jack Lombardo), Mary (Robert Horbatuk), Lucy (Steve Fronzi) and Nick (Tracey).  Inspirational Nono to Deanna and Matthew Fronzi, Andrew Horbatuk and Victoria Romano.  Friend of Ruby.  Brother of the late VitoAntonio (late Lisa), late Luigi (late Yolanda), late Nicolina (Francesco), Francesco (late Catarina), late Elisabeta (late Francesco), late Bruno (Maria) and the late Orsoloa (late Domenico).  Son-in-law of the late Marianna and Bruno Gervasi. Brother-in-law of Nicola (late Elisabeta), late Francesco (Carmela), Fortunato (Lisa), Maria (late Bruno Roti), Salvatore (late Dolores), Domenico (Huguette), Teresa (Joseph Torresan), Immaculata (Giuseppi Ruscitto) and Cosmo (Tina).  Uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Family and friends are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory’s Church on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 10 a.m. with Father Trevor Scarfone officiating.  Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum.   Salvatore found great satisfaction in gardening, cooking and sharing food with anyone who needed a meal.   In keeping with Salvatore’s passion, donations to the Soup Kitchen or charity of your choice would be appreciated.  Thank you to all the care providers who treated him with love, care, compassion and dignity throughout his illness.  www.northwoodfuneral.com
