Peacefully in Palliative Care with family by her side on Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Beloved wife of the late Ugo Romano. Cherished mother of Sr. Costanza Romano, csj, Nancy Vardy (Gerard) and Domenic Romano (Nancy). Much loved nonna of Ida-Marie and Nicole Romano and Taylor and Morgan Vardy. Sister of Maria Fascina (Alberto) and Ernesto Bruno (Lorraine). Sister-in-law of Cesidio Romano (Pauline), Angelina Tantalo (Alfredo), Leucio Romano (Elizabeth) and Nick Romano (Dorothy). Friends may call at the Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Friday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Veronica's Church on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Ron Ambeault officiating. Memorial donations made to the Sault Area Hospital or Group Health Centre would be greatly appreciated. Ida was blessed to have many friends whom she held dear and close to her heart - to all of you, we say thank you for the blessing you were to Ida. Ida lived the last five years at the Great Northern Retirement Home so to all her 'baby' and 'dolly' friends and caregivers, we say thank you for making Ida's time so wonderful in her home away from home. Ida was granted the privilege of receiving wonderful medical care beginning with her long time doctor whom she thought the world of Dr. F. Ianni; Dr. Silvana Spadafora, thank you for the personal touch; to all her doctors and care staff, thank you for taking care of our mom and most especially this recent time, a special thank you to Drs. Berry, Moammar, Armstrong and Mathew. To all her nurses and other professionals on 6th floor, surgery, recovery, SSD, ICU and Palliative Care, your care and compassion make you a true gift. Ida was a remarkable, courageous and inspiring woman who touched many lives and we were truly blessed to have her in our lives.
