RECTOR, Sandra BIO

(June 29, 1946 – December 4, 2018) - After a courageous, yet short battle with cancer, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister, wife, mother, grani, best friend and lifelong love.  Sandi (with an i) leaves behind her husband Hervey and their three children Mark (Melanie), Michelle Rector-Murphy (Corey) and David (Karen).  Grani (with an i) also leaves behind the joys of her life Alexa-Rae, Jaxon, Jorja, Ethan, Gabriel, Liam, Chloe and Sophie.  Sandi will be missed by her sisters Jeanine Hicks (Bob), Donna Borghese (Carmen) and Debbie Trudel (Ivan) and her brothers Irvy (Joan), Earl Jr. (Louise) and Don (Joan), sister-in-law Helen Kaine (late Tom) and brother-in-law Wayne Lecuyer (late Jacquie).  Sandi will be reunited in Heaven with her late mother and father Genevieve and Earl Sr., as well as with her brothers and sisters that have passed on before her – Lorne, Gerard “Buddy”, Earlyn and Joanne-Marie “Dickie”.  She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and all her family at Rector Machine Works.  Mom’s love of sewing led her to create and design costumes for dancers and figure skaters, Halloween costumes for her children, grandchildren and employees, dresses for her daughter or granddaughters, and banners for her church throughout the years.  These many talents and gifts will be immensely missed by everyone.  She loved to serve the church in her capacity as volunteer decorator along side Hervey for the better part of 4 decades at St. Gregory’s parish – she has left some very large shoes to fill.  The “sandi” beaches of Horseshoe Bay – her most favorite place on earth - will have another angel watching over it and all its residents (mostly family); as one of her grandson’s stated “camp will never be the same!”  The family would like to extend their thanks to the many care givers that have been on this brief and difficult journey with us.  Beginning with Nurse Practitioner Julie Reid, Hospitalist - Dr. Shaffi, Surgeons - Dr. Banks and Dr. Allard, Oncologists - Dr. Spadafora and Dr. Rassouli and Oncology Nurse - Paula Greco, Oncology Social Worker – Debbie Collins-Maskell, Dr. Caputo, Dr. MacLean & medical student Ben Lafleur, Cardiologist - Dr. Beguy, ICU Doctors Difabio and Landry, and her Palliative Care Team of Dr. Buhner and Dr. Apostle.  To all the nurses and PSW’s on 3C, 2A, 3B, Oncology and ICU, without your care and compassion during this difficult time, we would have been totally lost.  It takes a special person to care for another’s loved ones, and everyone we met along the way have gone above and beyond their calling; and for this we will be forever grateful.  Finally, to all the nurses and volunteers at ARCH, mom’s stay was short but impactful; from the bottom of our hearts we would especially like to thank nurses – Erica, Cheryl, Karen, Brianna and Lauren, Chef Tom, Rodney, Fernando and mom’s guardian angel - Norie!  A Celebration of Life will take place at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Monday December 10, 2018 from 6 pm to 9 pm.  As per Sandi's wishes, the family would like this to be a happy and casual occasion.  Funeral Mass to be celebrated from St. Gregory's Church on Tuesday December 11, 2018 at 11 am.  Rev. Alex Saurianthadathil officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations to ARCH or St. Gregory's Building Fund would be greatly appreciated.
