(May 24, 1944 – May 6, 2019) “What a fantastic journey that the Lord has seen fit to give me.  Thank you!  I don’t leave behind family and friends but I go forward to join my wife Sandi, and they should be truly happy for me!”  ~ Herv Rector

After a five year courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma and with his family by his side, Hervey “Herv” (H-e-r-”v” as in Victor) Fred Rector’s fight came to an end on Monday, May 6, 2019 - just a few weeks shy of this 75th birthday.  He was a son, brother, husband, father, papa, best friend, employer, and a mentor to many over the past 51 years at the helm of Rector Machine Works Ltd.  Herv wanted to thank everyone that continued this amazing journey with him, customers, vendors, colleagues and especially employees.  Herv always said “Our business is a vehicle to get through this life and to provide for others” and “I am only as good as the people around me!”  Herv leaves behind his children Mark (Melanie), Michelle (Corey) and David (Karen).  His precious grandkids Alexa-Rae, Liam, Jaxon, Sophie, Chloe, Jorja, Ethan and Gabriel.  Predeceased by, and reunited with the love of his life Sandi, his parents Loretta and Hervey Sr., brothers’ Roy and Gene, and sisters Jacquie and Helen.  Herv will be greatly missed by lifelong friend and partner in crime - Dave “Jackie” Newman, his “breakfast buddy” and chauffeur - Peter Belec, his fellow Myeloma fighter and caterer Marion Bentley, and last but never least his brother-in-law/best friend Wayne Lecuyer.  Herv will be missed by many nieces and nephews and finally, Papa will be missed by his four-legged office partner “Rocky”.  Herv and his family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of his care givers from beginning to end.  Oncologists - Dr. Spadafora, Dr. Hill and Nurse Cindy.  To the many amazing oncology nurses in the “Chemo Suite” – John, Laura, Kate, Kelly, Christine, Lisa, Lawson, Annalisa, Shauna and Jennifer (if we forgot any, we truly apologise), your care and compassion of dad will never be forgotten.  You all were never just “nurses” during this journey, you became part of our family.  Oncology Social Worker – Debbie Collins-Maskall – your compassionate words and friendship throughout the years with dad were greatly appreciated.  Dr. Sharon Buehner – what can we say – you are one of a kind and we were blessed to have you on our team.  Bayshore Home Care nurses – Patrick Dewar and Cathy Moon – thank you from the bottom of our hearts – you both went above and beyond your duties over the past few months, we can never truly thank you enough – you are a tribute to your profession.  Finally to the people/volunteers of ARCH, especially Cheryl and Karen – there are no words – we knew dad was in good hands – thank you.  A Celebration of Life will take place at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E 705-759-2522) on Sunday, May 12, 2019 from 1 pm until 4 pm.  Funeral Mass to be celebrated from St. Gregory’s Church on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 11 am.  Rev. Alex Saurianthadathil and Rev. Trevor Scarfone officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations (payable by cheque) to ARCH or St. Gregory’s Building Fund would be greatly appreciated.
