(1938-2023) - It is with great sadness we announce the loss of our dad at the age of 85. Predeceased by his wife Amber and his parents James and Lillian Rathwell. Beloved father of Mike (Denise), Glen, Debbie (Alfie) and Tammy. A very devoted and special grandpa to Cathy (James), Allie (Cody), Zachary (Stephanie), Stephanie, Sarah and Cindy. Dad kept a special place in his heart and cherished his great grandchildren, Olivia, Alexa, Sophie, Noah, Emma, Ashlyn, Tristan, Nick, Trinity, Dean and Evie. His face would light up when any of the grandchildren were around or up to visit him. Oldest brother of Lillian, Jack (Marlene), Reg (Pat), George (Mary), Lacey (Barbara), Gwen (Gary), Brian (Medilyn) and predeceased by his sister Daisy (Jack) and his brother Ronnie (Charlotte). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, who he adored.
He loved to spend time outdoors and fishing. He did not let kidney disease stop him. We did dialysis treatments on the shorelines using trees and in hotel rooms in Las Vegas. A special thanks to all his casino buddies for bringing joy and happiness to his life.
As per dad’s wishes, a celebration of life will take place in the near future. Memorial donations to the SAH Renal Care Fund would be greatly appreciated.
