RAINBIRD, Sharon Elizabeth (nee Coutu)

Peacefully at F.J. Davey Home on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the age of 80.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Edward Richard Rainbird (Bob) who passed away on April 15, 2020, at the age of 79. They were married for 56 years.

Dear mother of Jamie Rainbird (Adina Paluzzi) of Chatham and Bobbi-Jo Belair (Kim) of Sault Ste. Marie. Proud grandmother of Mitchell (Courtney Roberts) and Trent Rainbird as well as Tianna Belair (Justin Hykel and daughter Sydney Hykel) and Bodie Belair. Daughter of the late Henry and Dorothy Coutu (nee Spencer) and daughter-in-law of the late Harry and Vera Rainbird (nee Jannison). Dear sister of Spencer (Maridel) Coutu of Laird Township and Sheldon (Carolene) Coutu of Sault Ste. Marie. Dear sister-in-law to Ken (Jeannine) Rainbird and Gary (Dawn) Rainbird of Windsor. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Mom enjoyed being busy and worked at many places, most notably in the offices of Dr. Drake and then Dr. Fera, followed by a career in the Life Insurance industry. She always loved to exercise and spent many of her later years on the golf course. We always enjoyed hearing her many childhood stories of her and her brothers growing up on Terrance Ave, including spending time at her grandparents in Lee Valley as well as her grandparents fishing lodge on the Isle of Birches, Herman Lake at ACR mile 180.5. She grew up loving nature, camping, beaches, animals, and as a young woman could regularly be found working on her tan. She also had a special place in her heart for the Florah Rebekah Lodge where she participated and served for many years.

In respecting Mom’s wishes, cremation will take place and there will not be any visitation or service.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to the nursing staff of the F.J. Davey Home for their loving care and support over the years. A special mention to all the staff on Apple 2 who went above and beyond every day. Your compassion will never be forgotten.
