RADKE, Melvin "Mel"

Passed away at Kelowna General Hospital on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at the age of 83. Mel was born February 21, 1921 at Sault Ste. Marie, ON. He served on Sault Ste. Marie City Council, RCAF and served in World War II for four years as a flight engineer officer with the Number Four Squadron. He moved to Kelowna in 1978 where he worked in the insurance business. Mel was known for his wonderful smile, great singing voice, honourable character and generosity. He is survived by his loving wife Myrtle of 61 years; his children Bruce (Judy) of Cambridge, ON, Barbara (Doug) of Vancouver, BC, Patricia (Keith) of Cambridge, ON, James (Melissa) of Douglassville, Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Paul, John, Scott, Jeff, Dawn, Katherine, David, Andrew, Christina and Victoria; great grandchildren: Clayton, Coleman, Benjamin, Megan and C.J., brothers: Lorne, Elmer, Norman and Arnold Radke all of Ontario; and sister Doris Gable of Kelowna. Predeceased by his brother Vincent. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, September 13, 2004 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's United, 3131 Lakeshore Road, Kelowna, BC with Rev. Wayne Laurie officiating. Cremation to follow.
