Donald Robert Pratt, age 96, of Shingleton, Michigan passed away Thursday afternoon, February 7, 2013 at his daughter's home in Brimley. Don was born November 17, 1916 in Coral, Michigan to the late Adlbert and Liddy (Oper) Pratt. He married June (Lord) Pratt on December 23, 1949 in Munising, Michigan. He worked at the Kimberly Clark Paper Mill as a paper maker until his retirement in 1976. He also worked for Northern Michigan University at their Field Station for a number of years. Don was a member of Farm Bureau and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors – especially at camp up in Canada. He also enjoyed dancing, gardening, and listening to books on tape. He loved visiting with family and friends and spending time with his four legged friend: Buckshot. Don is survived by his six daughters: Dona (Roger) Sager of Negaunee, MI, Diane (Charlie) Parish of Brimley, MI, Barb Clute of Kinderhook, MI, June (Bob) Bernier of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Mary (David) Simpson of Indiana, and Betty (Patrick) Briggs of Oregon; forty-one grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a few great great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister: Nelda Miller of Gowen, MI. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: June Pratt; two grandsons: Kenneth Swajanen, Jr. and Matthew Simpson; a son-in-law Mark “Dallas” Clute; four brothers and four sisters. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home with Pastor George Dwelly and Pastor Daniel Knepper co-officiating. Friends may gather at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. A private burial service will be held later this spring.
