It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene Marie Porpealia (See). With loved ones at her side and at the age of 61, her courageous hard-fought battle with cancer has ended.  She was the loving daughter of Jean See, predeceased by her father Russell See. A wonderful sister to Norma Elliott (Don), her older twin Darrell See (Amy) and Patty See (Terry). She was the greatest aunt ever to Adam Elliott (Joscelyn), Danielle Elliott, Avery See, Darienne See, Jakob Bourdage (Erica); and a Special great-aunt to Nash and Jemma Elliott and Denver and Violet Bourdage.  Over the years she has been the “Proud Mama” to many rescued fur-babies. Her idea of “fostering” was to welcome them into her house, which then became their “forever home”. Her love and dedication to those she rescued was unwavering.

She will be remembered for her fearlessness, quick wit and selflessness. She was the person you could always rely on to be there to help you at a moment's notice. She was genuine in her commitment and love for others. She had many interests; bee keeping, gardening, reading, hiking, baking, biking, loved her sports; hockey, baseball, golf, football (Steelers Fan) and at times was quite the thrill seeker who tried zip-lining and skydiving.

She loved her career with the Ottawa Police Service, she enjoyed her involvement with the United Church Women and all the wonderful friends she made throughout her time with both. During her illness it was evident that her connections with friends were genuine and from the heart.  She was blessed with truly remarkable friends. She wanted all of you to know that “I had the best friends on the planet!” There are no words to express hers and our thanks and gratitude to all of you for being there for her when we could not. A special thank you to Krystyna, Dan & Lynn, Mireille & Chris, Diane, Vicky, Elizabeth, Brenda, Rose, Rebecca, Maria, Debra and many more who supported her without hesitation when she needed you most. She appreciated everything you did for her; her heart was full!

There are no words to express our gratitude to the amazing people at ARCH. Your kindness, support and compassion touched all our hearts as you guided us through this difficult journey. Memorial donations to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society, A.R.C.H. or a charity of choice  would be greatly appreciated.

Friends and family are invited to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E., 705-759-2522) for a Come & Go Celebration of Life in Darlene's honour on Saturday January 13, 2024 from 11:30 am - 3:30 pm. Please visit www.arthurfuneralhome.com obituaries section to leave a message of condolence as a keepsake for the family.
