PIOTROWSKI, Ted

Posted

(Sept 21, 1924-November 12, 2009)– Born in Lodz, Poland in 1924. Ted learned the lessons of survival and endurance during his internment in WWII concentration camps. He endured the loss and separation of his family and his country, coming to Canada and finding a new life for his heart with Loretta in Sault Ste. Marie. Ted built a new life for himself and his family by working at Algoma Steel until his retirement. He and Loretta raised four children with great pride. Ted survived and endured many chronic illnesses and physical challenges in his retirement years. Enduring physical struggles, Ted let everyone know that Growing Old is Not For Sissies. His smile and spirit of generosity became a calling card for his many friends in our community. Many in our community will celebrate Ted’s years of involvement and contributions as a member of the Knights of Columbus, founding member of Bluebird Arthritic Society, past volunteer of the year for the United Way and active member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. He has earned his rest and reconnection with those who have gone before him. Ted accepted the peaceful welcome to the next journey with his family by his side on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Sault Area Hospital – General Site at the age of 85. Dearly loved by his wife Loretta of 59 years, children Deanna (Peter Whitehead) of Calgary, Alberta, David of Vancouver, British Columbia, Daniel of Calgary, Alberta, and Lisa. Grandpa of Katherine, Kassia, Lily Piotrowski and Nolan and Ben Cail. Son of the late Kazmir and Frances Piotrowski. Brother of Gerald (Anna) in England and the late Barbara.
