Vernon passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Geka Wigwam after a very long, brave and courageous battle. Cherished husband of Rhonda. Proud and loving father of Natalie and Jordan. Stepfather to Darrel (Jodi), Terri (Brian) and Dylan (Sheena). Papa Vern to Kaleb (Preya), Servet, Ara, Damon, Sadie, Keith, Nolan, Braden, Brodi, Dallas and Savannah. Brother of Mike, late Beatrice, Dale, late Darrel, late Douglas and late Peter. Predeceased by his parents Gloria Day and Xavier Pine. Vernon is loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends. Vernon will be missed by his big furry baby Sara.

Vernon’s biggest treasure was his girls. He loved spending time with his family, riding his ATV, camping and fishing. He was a true-blue Maple Leaf fan. He enjoyed music and liked listening to The Tragically Hip. We will forever miss his witty sarcasm, silly jokes and his laughter. Baamaapii Vern.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Vernon at Serpent River First Nation Band Hall, 195 Village Road East, Cutler, on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 3pm until 7pm. Interment at Serpent River First Nation Cemetery on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 1pm with a feast to follow at Serpent River First Nation Band Hall.
