After a swift and unexpected decline in health, Audrey passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side in the Sault Area Hospital on September 13, 2022 at the age of 93.

Beloved wife of the late Tom Petts (2001) and dearest mother of Debbi Odber (Ron) of Calgary and Lori Petts (David Thorne) of Ottawa.  Dear sister of the late Ken Martin (late Helen) and loving aunt of Chris Teston (Bill Kelly) and son Nicholas, Carol Martin, and Catharine Butler (Rev) and children Trevor and Caroline, all of Sugarhill, Georgia.

Audrey was born and raised in Thorold, Ontario and attended the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 1950.  Audrey was then employed at Canada Life Assurance Company in Toronto, and it was in Toronto that she met Tom.  After multiple transfers with his job at Abitibi, Audrey and Tom settled in Sault Ste. Marie where they raised their two daughters.

Audrey loved the outdoors and she and Tom spent many happy years at their chalet, skiing at Searchmont ski resort.  She was Tom’s partner in the running of the first Ski Shop there.  She and Tom ventured west to explore the ski resorts of Alberta, BC, Utah and Colorado, frequently returning to their favorite, Steamboat Springs.  In later years they explored Canada and the United States in their RV, but particularly loved camping close to home at Pancake Bay.  They enjoyed trips to Europe and the Caribbean, which Audrey continued after Tom’s passing, with friends and family joining her in her travels.

Throughout her time in the Sault she volunteered with various organizations, including Christmas Cheer, the Art Gallery of Algoma and at the information desk at the Sault Area Hospitals.  She joined a myriad of clubs and groups over the years but especially enjoyed the company of friends for bridge, concerts, theatre and social gatherings.

Many thanks to all of the friends and members of the community who made Audrey part of their family, particularly during COVID when restrictions made it difficult for her daughters to be able to visit the Sault.

As per Audrey’s wishes, she will be cremated and there will be a service for family only.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Thank you to the wonderful staff there who treated us all with such care and attention.

Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522).  Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Petts family.
