PASCUZZI-BURKE, Rose

Posted

Peacefully at Mauno Kaihla Koti on Monday, December 9, 2013. Wife of the late Oresto Pascuzzi and the late Joseph Burke. Dear mother of Sandy Pascuzzi (Sharon Mazur) of Toronto, Mary Pascuzzi (Anthony Nanne) and the late Vincent Pascuzzi (late Rosalita).  Cherished Grammarose of Gregory Nanne, Krista Pascuzzi and Eric Pascuzzi. Daughter of the late Maria Greco and the late Vincenzo Chiappetta. Predeceased by sisters Almeda and Eleanor and brothers William and Orlando (late Lorna). Rose will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Rose was born and lived in “Buckley” or on Korah Road all of her long life. Her parents, Maria and Vincenzo emigrated from Italy to Pennsylvania, USA and moved to Sault Ste. Marie after Rose’s two oldest siblings, William and Almeda were born. The family operated Chiappetta’s grocery store on the corner of Korah Road and Douglas streets for many years. One of Rose’s fondest childhood memories was of Sunday picnics at Leigh’s Bay with the Greco family. She was a Royal Conservatory certified music teacher. Widowed at a young age, she taught Piano and Organ lessons while raising her three children. Through the years, she filled many scrapbooks with newspaper clippings of announcements and articles about her former music students. An original member of “Vic Tanny’s”,  Rose kept up with her swimming in retirement at Nautilus and then Club Cabana at the Water Tower Inn. Her other pastimes included playing the piano and organ, doing crossword puzzles and later learning how to use the internet and to email her children. She was a great cook and always made traditional Italian baked goods for the holidays. In her later years, Rose was a resident of the Great Northern Retirement Home and the Mauno Kaihla Koti Rest Home where she received wonderful, loving care from all of the dedicated staff. Many will remember Rose playing Solitaire and of course, the piano. Friends may call at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation And Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Thursday December 12, 2013 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. followed by a Mass at St. Gregory’s Church at 1:30 p.m. with Father Alex Saurianthadathil officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
