OVERLAND, Valeda (nee Douville)

 With sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Valeda Overland (nee Douville) on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the age of 97. Valeda is reunited with her husband Raymond “Ray” Overland; her daughters Barbara-Joyce, in infancy and Valerie DeMolen; her eldest son Albert Overland, grandson Christopher and son-in-law Michael Mahn.

Survived by Five children: Carol Tooley (Bob) of Florida; son-in-law Richard DeMolen of Michigan; Patty MacLean (Wayne), James Overland (Tammay) and Timothy Overland (Rhonda) of Goulais and Holly Mahn (Brian Irwin) of the Soo.

Grandmother of: Kelly, Mike, Lori, Mary, Kim, Leslie, Jesse, Jamie, Casey, Michaela, James, Jordan and Caitlyn.

Great-Grandmother of: Christopher, Cody, Connor, Aubrey, Hope, Jacob, Bella, Taylor, Stephen, Alecia, Emily, Madelyn, Aidan, Owen, Eva and Jaxson.

Aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Valeda is survived by her sisters: Jacqueline Beach (late Ron), Patricia Mock (Wayne) of Oklahoma, and her brother Joseph Douville (late Helen). Predeceased by her parents Edith and Gabriel Douville; her sisters Joyce Parlowe (late Jack), Nora Nirkkola (late Tauno) and her brother John Douville (late Ella).

Valeda “Val” Grandma O will always be remembered by her love of life; be it gardening, cooking, shopping, crocheting, reading any book, crossword puzzles, watching a Blue Jay game or hockey on TV, talking for hours on the phone, her willingness to travel anywhere at any time but especially her love and loyalty to family.

Between the Red Hats, her church and wintering (25 years) in Florida, there was always time to pick up the “sisters” and enjoy a cup a tea.

A special Thank You to the staff on Apple 2 and Birch 1 at the FJ Davey Home for their kindness, patience and exceptional care given to Mom/Valeda during the past 2 years.
