O'NEILL, Dr. J. Patrick

(May 27, 1931 - October 22, 2008) - Peacefully passed away
at home in the early morning of Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Beloved husband of
Carol (Nolan). Loving father of Kevin (Lynne) of Toronto, ON, Bernie of Stouffville,
ON, Philip (Akiko) of Japan, Barbara Roach (Darren) of Australia and Kathy O'Neill
of Edmonton. Cherished grandfather of Sophie, Ben, Sean, Kyoko, Toshiro, Jack and
Candace. Dear brother of Helen Brunning (late Frank), late Florence McDonald (late
Gerry), Elizabeth McDonald (late Laird), Mike O'Neill (Jean), Carl O'Neill (Angela)
and the late Cyril O'Neill. Brother-in-law of Albert Nolan (Ann) and Jim Nolan. He
will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. Dr.
Patrick O'Neill received his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 1956
and went on to obtain his certificate in Otolaryngology in 1964. He began his
practice in Sault Ste. Marie in 1965. Dr. O'Neill served as a Medical Officer in
Germany for four years for the Queen's Own Rifles. He served as the Chief of Staff
at the Sault Area Hospital (General and Plummer) from 1974-1986. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral
Home & Cremation Centre on Sunday, October 26, 2008 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral
mass to be celebrated from St. Jerome's Catholic Church (Carmel Rd.) on Monday,
October 27, 2008 at 10 am. Rev. Hamish Currie officiating. Visitation will also be
held on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 from 10-11 am at the St. John's Roman Catholic
Church in Glenelg Centre. (Arrangements in Markdale, Ontario entrusted to May
Funeral Home, 519-986-3310). Followed by prayers and a committal service at the St.
John's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Glenelg Centre with Rev. Anthony Azzopardi
officiating. Memorial contributions to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice
(ARCH) would be appreciated by the family.
