With sadness we announce the passing of our dear father, Jim Nisbett at the tender age of 98 on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. He leaves behind his three children, Ricky (Betty), Lynne Miller (Peter) and Jim (Heather).  He was grandfather of 6 and great grandfather of 9.  He is now reunited with the love of his life Betty.

Dad proudly served in WW2 and the HMCS Ste. Therese Frigate.  From the St. Lawrence River to Bermuda and north Scotland, he worked as a sonar operator chasing submarines and escort duty.  He came home on leave to marry his sweetheart Betty on May 8, 1944.  They were married for 60 years until her death in 2005.

Dad joined the legion in 1950. Mom and Dad spent many hours volunteering and many friendships were developed. These friends were lifetime buddies. Many camps and houses were built by this group.  Mom and Dad's camp on St. Joe's Island became a meeting place that all were welcome. That is where my Dad taught my very young son to pee in the water.  Summer was mom's happy place sitting on the deck and watching the sunset with Dad.

He loved his sports and excelled at all he tried.  His favourite sport was his love of golf and the Maple Leafs. He is now golfing among the stars. Speedy journey Dad.

A private family burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Donation to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 Poppy Fund, Humane Society or charity of you choice would be appreciated.

Our Sincere Thanks to the staff on Cedar 2 at the F. J. Davey Home for their excellent care of Dad.  Special thanks to Lori and Vince.

Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. - 705-759-2522).
