NIKKINEN, Margaret Rita

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Margaret Nikkinen in her 96 th year, at the FJ Davey Home on Saturday, February 18 th .

Loving wife of the late Wesley Nikkinen and amazing mother of Kaaren DiPasquale (Kenny), Raymond Nikkinen (Paulette), late Lynda Bertoncello (Danny), Leslie Nikkinen and Karla Simonds (Jon). Much loved grandmother of twelve as well as great grandmother of twelve. Daughter of the late Mark and Mara Pavelich. Sister of the late Emil Pavelich (Aino), Marion Pavelich (Bruna), Anna Kermend (Joe), John Pavelich (Susie) , Mary Bachmeier (Tony) and Helen Hillstrom (Don). Survived by her brother, Mark Pavelich (Audrey) and brother-in-law, Gerald Helferty (Anne Marie). Sister-in-law to the late Helen Webb (Bryan and Ray Koivisto) and Lila Cardiff (Bill). Margaret dearly loved her many nieces and nephews.

Margaret spent her career as head cashier at the Queen Street A & P where she met her future husband, father of five and her mother-in-law, Katherine Helferty.

Margaret loved her family more than words can say and spent many hours walking “the back 40” of Brule Road teaching her grandchildren about nature.

The family would like to extend their thanks for the exceptional care that Margaret received during her years at the FJ Davey Home and particularly during the last few weeks, your kindness will never be forgotten.

Visitation will take place at O’Sullivan Funeral Home, 215 St. James Street, on Friday, February 24 th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 114 MacDonald Avenue. A luncheon will follow at the Church Hall.
