NICHOLSON, Lorne

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Lorne after a long illness at home on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the age of 93. Cherished husband of Gloria (nee Christie) for nearly 69 years. Devoted father of Chris (Ann), Kevin (Colleen), and Melissa (Marj). Proud Grandpa of Kendra, Mallorie, Delaire Dawn (Theo), Brittany (Mike), and Ken. Lorne will be sorely missed by his sister and very special friend and neighbour Roma (Ed) and predeceased by his brother Morris and sisters Hazel and Glenna. Lorne was highly thought of by his many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Lorne was a life-long employee of Abitibi-Price (later becoming St. Mary’s Paper), retiring after 48 years in his final role as Woodlands Manager. An avid fisherman, hunter and carpenter, he was known for his quick wit and ever-present smile. He always had a great story ranging from his experiences growing up to his adventures with the guys at “Mile 17”. Together with his wife Gloria, his greatest love was time shared with family and friends. His most memorable times included watching his grandchildren grow and excel, playing the card game Shanghai, or simply sharing a wonderful meal.

The family would like to share a special thank you to Dr. Kevin Wacker’s office for their thoughtful care over the years.

Due to the pandemic a private family service was held. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Sault Area Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
