Peacefully at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in his 90th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Joan (nee Wilson) for 60 years. Dearly loved and admired father of Marie (Folgo), Jennifer (Leslie), Morna (John), Redvers (Pamela) and Stephen (Dale). Cherished “Grampa” of Nathaniel (Shelly), Jonathan, Leslie, Lyndsey, Ryan (Sarah), Benjamin (Jessi), Tyler, Emily and Geoffrey. Dear brother of the late Hector (late Mary), late Hubert, late Margaret Diboll (late Frank), late Francis (Pat), Marie Cain (late Alex), Edmond (Ruby), Alma Ingabrand (late Kenny), late Paul (late Clara Jean), Donny (Bonnie) and the late Donna Joan. Brother-in-law of Pat Nelson (late Frank), the late Olive Irwin (late Tom), John Wilson (late Mary), Roy Wilson (late Anne) and Richard Wilson. Sadly missed by Sherry Wilson. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Red will be sadly missed by his many friends at the Cambrian Mall and at the Adult Day Away Program. Red was a proud St. Joseph Islander, an avid hunter who loved nature. As an accomplished machinist and craftsman he creatively applied his skills throughout his career and towards many unique personal projects. Red was a decorated WWII Veteran (B.E.M.) and a Legion member for 64 years. He is remembered as a man of grace and dignity, kind and considerate, a true storyteller with a wry sense of humour. He was passionate about and so proud of his family. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, February, 16, 2010 from 4 – 7 p.m Funeral service will be celebrated in the chapel on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 1 p.m. Father Trevor Scarfone officiating Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
