Passed away peacefully in the Blind River Hospital in Ontario on Sunday, November 27, 2022 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He is survived by his beloved common-law wife, Elsie Lalonde, son André Nadon, daughter Céline Nadon, brother Hubert Nadon, sisters Eileen (Joe) Lapenna, Beatrice (Marty) Moulaison, and Julie Nadon.

Eldest of 10 children, Gilles was born on April 15, 1935 in Meadow Lake Saskatchewan to David and Anna (née Forcier) Nadon. He spent his early life helping with farming duties, caring for his younger siblings and studying.

Gilles enjoyed careers in teaching, the Canadian Armed Forces and translation and editing for Kelly Services. Gilles had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and was a voracious reader until recent years. He enjoyed and excelled in many interests in his life including genealogy, electronics, alternative medicine, woodworking, ballroom dancing and farming. He had much enthusiasm for the French language and was proud of his French-Canadian roots.

Gilles is predeceased by his son René and his daughter-in-law Cynthia Nadon in 1992, his sisters Elizabeth (Bill) Hensel in 1994, Irene (Barry) Orr in 2005, Margaret (Robert) Halle in 2016 as well as his brothers Louis Nadon in 2011 and Émile Nadon in 2012.

Gilles was a true gentleman and a man of great principles and values. We will forever miss his kindness and generosity of spirit.
