Peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Plummer Memorial Hospital on Saturday, October 28, 2006 in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Soili. Loving father of Pertti (Ruth Tonon) and Anne Markkula (Leo). Cherished Pappa of Christian and David Mutikainen, Ryan, Kevin and Allison Markkula. Special brother of Vappu, Raimo and Seppo all of Finland. Predeceased by his parents, Vaino & Hilja and his brothers Mauri, Pauli and Esko. Brother-in-law of Esko Maakumpu of Sault Ste. Marie and Anja Leivo of Finland. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. A private memorial service was held at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at 7pm. Rev. Jouko Jyrkama officiated. Memorial donations to the SAH Cancer Care Fund or the Ontario Finnish Resthome Foundation.
