(April 24th 1989- March 28th 2022) - It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas William Murtonen announce his sudden but peaceful passing on Monday, March 28, 2022, due to complications with his diabetes, just one month shy of his 33rd birthday.

Thomas was born and raised in Sault Ste Marie, where as a child he loved to play soccer and street hockey. He also loved music, playing his guitar and he loved to draw which was a skill he kept until he recently started to lose his eyesight due to his diabetes. Thomas enjoyed the simple things in life, especially watching the old TV shows.

Thomas leaves behind his Mother Lori Leclerc (Allan), Father Michael Murtonen (Susan), Grandparents Marlene and Gordon Nash, Uncle Mark Nash, Sisters Kristina Murtonen (Tim), Annika Leclerc, Mikaela Murtonen, Sjeli Pearse (Sagen) and Brother Jayce Leclerc who will all be missing him greatly. He will also be missed by Kristina's dog Mollie who Thomas just adored.

Thomas will always be remembered for his kindness and care for others, as well as his love for animals and his favourite sport hockey.

The family would like to thank all the first responders, Dr Culina, and all the staff at Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel for all the care and compassion throughout this difficult time. As well the family would like to thank Thomas's friends Josh, Terrance, Eric, Payton, Amanda, Steve and Darren for all their love and support through the years.

As per Thomas's wishes he has been cremated and there will be no visitation or service. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date with family and close friends. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made towards the CNIB Guide Dogs, the Sault Ste Marie Humane Society, or the Algoma Autism Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. - 705-759-2522).
