(December 12, 1951 - December 8, 2023) - Passed away peacefully at Algoma Residential Community Hospice. Beloved husband and best friend of 37 years to wife Anne Murdock.
Loving father of Sacha Murdock, predeceased Travis Murdock, Leanne Murdock (Matthew), Tracey Bruni. Proud Granddad of Shomari, Shaki, Savion, Regina, Kiyara, Euan, Glen and Jace. Dear brother of Daphne Cranston, Norma, Junior Cranston (late June), Cleveland Barker(Veronica), Hortense Patten(Peter). Predeceased by his parents Iris Small and Isaac Murdock. Cherished Brother-in-law of Kenneth MacKenzie (late Helena), Ian MacKenzie (Donna) late Margaret Scammell (Alan). Leroy will be greatly missed by his many loving nieces and nephew's, golf buddies (Joe and Charlie), all his chums he's worked with over the years at AOD in Wawa and Algoma Steel in Sault Ste Marie. His Coffee buddies Jack(nephew) and Bill. His favorite chef and good friend Horatio. The many long time friends of his daughter, to name a few Brooke “Brookie”, Miles, Ellen and Carly.
Special Thank You to the Bayshore Nurses, especially Cathy and Kim for taking care of Dad above and beyond the call of duty. His PSW’s Kassie and Tia. Also, to everyone at ARCH, Dr. Sharon Buehner, the nurses (Kerri), staff and volunteers who guided us and cared for Leroy during this difficult time.
Dad grew up in Marvely Kingston Jamaica until he immigrated to Canada in 1977. He went from the warm ocean breeze to the chill of Northern Ontario, Little Wawa to be exact. He built a life in Northern Ontario with the dreams of frequenting back home to Jamaica, but life got busy, and his dream was put on hold when he was diagnosed with Cancer. He was a hard-working man, who put his family's wants over his own. He would lend a helping hand to anyone except in a poker game. He loved most sports, but his favorite Jay's, Montreal Canadiens and Tiger Woods were topics that weren't up for debate. He loved music (Bob Marley) and listened to it unapologetically loud while dancing of course. “One good thing about music, is when it hits you feel no pain”. The key to his heart was through his stomach, especially if it was native to Jamaica. He had a unique sense of humor and had a way keeping you on your toes. He was a Jamaican who loved putting up his Christmas tree and decorations while listening to a Kenny Roger's Christmas album waiting for a snowy Christmas.
In respecting Leroy’s wishes, cremation will take place and there will not be any visitation or service. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
