It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Migwans, surrounded by his family at the Sault Area Hospital.

Richard was a loving husband to Jennifer (La Haye) for 23 years and the proud father of Richard jr., Andrew, and Frederick. He was the loved son of Catherine and the late Peter Migwans. Predeceased by his sister Corrine Migwans and survived by his brother Keith Migwans (Joanne) and his sister Mona Migwans Desmoulin (Cal). Richard was the beloved son-in-law of Andrew and Marguerite La Haye and the brother-in-law of André La Haye (Jennifer). He was a fond uncle to many nieces and nephews: Dominic Desjardins, Kenny, the late Christina and Peter Armstrong; Jordan and Shayna Migwans; Shawna Migwans-Desmoulin, Jenell Migwans-Desmoulin and Watson Desmoulin, Tatyannah Coté, Michaela and Christopher La Haye, as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Richard was a talented woodland artist, whose paintings have hung in galleries across Ontario and Michigan and at numerous art shows, including several in the American south-west.

He was also a well-known security guard for Imperial and North East Regional Security and helped maintain order at Sault Ste. Marie’s bus terminal for many years.

As long as he was able, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a proud member of Easy Does It MC who was known as “Chief”.

The Migwans family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and psws who cared for Richard during his lengthy stay at the Sault Area Hospital.

A visitation for friends and family will take place on Thursday January 4, 2023, at O’Sullivan Funeral Home from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m.  A graveside service will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Prince Township at a later date.
