Alice was born and lived most of her life in Blind River. She attended Soo Business College in Sault Ste Marie, returning to Blind River to be with her family where she worked as a stenographer for McFadden Lumber Company, the Royal Bank, and a local family law firm.
Her family then moved to Sault Ste Marie, but Alice remained in Blind River and married into “La Famille” Ménard qui l’on bien supportée et aimée. When she started a family, she stayed at home to fully care for their children and supported the family business. La porte était toujours grande ouverte, with many guests, tous bien reçus, la table bien garnie et plusieurs à l’entour pour en réjouir.
Alice had beautiful penmanship, was well versed, and was an avid reader. She enjoyed the outdoors, skating, knitting, and playing bridge- her bridge foursome was nicknamed the “Golden Girls” with lone, Audrey and Blossom. She was the last surviving of her school class.
After Papa died, Alice moved to Sault Ste Marie, cared for by her daughter Gisèle with much appreciated help from her husband Billy and children/grandchildren, Aaron (Shayna), Finnley, Ainsley, Chantal, Justin (Jody), friend Karen and hairdresser Paula. Mille mercis à sa meilleure amie Éméline, “notre sœur adoptée” pour tout son aide et support.
