Roger McMillan of Nackawic, NB passed away November 12, 2021, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, in Fredericton, NB. He was born in Echo Bay, Ontario in 1942, a son of the late Clarence and Frances McMillan.

Roger was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, where he held various positions over the years. He was also a member of Moose Lodge in Sault Ste. Marie since 1973. Roger served two tours of duty with the Canadian Armed Forces on peacekeeping missions in various countries. He also served with the American Armed Forces in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Bravery and the Purple Heart after being injured in battle.

He returned to Sault Ste. Marie after his military service and worked as an engineer for Algoma Central Railroad until his retirement in January of 1995. He then attended Culinary Institute and managed his own catering company for several years.

After he again retired, he bought a small hobby farm in Bruce Mines, Ontario, which he loved, and even after moving to New Brunswick he returned to the farm most summers. During his years in New Brunswick, he has been active in the Kirk United Church, the Lower Southampton Branch 27, Royal Canadian Legion and the Nackawic Lions Club activities. He was outgoing, loved playing practical jokes and never hesitated to offer assistance to anyone who needed it.

Roger is survived by his wife, Vera Bradbury of Nackawic, NB; his children, LoriAnn Cicino (Ernie), Michael Moss (Liisa Mackenzie) and Winona Hutchinson (Steve); grandchildren, Roger Moss (Arrica) and Justin Moss, Chenoa (Carmen), Dasan (Maggie), Hillary (Brett) and Aja (Graham); great grandchildren, Ethan and Nova Moss, all of Sault Ste. Marie, ON; his siblings, Betty Conte (Dan), Hamilton, ON, Bernard McMillan, London, ON and Earl McMillan (Bernice), Sault Ste. Marie, ON and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by siblings, Jim, Jack, Lorne, Jerry, Glen and Barbara and his wife Marilyn McMillan.

A private family service will be held and a Celebration of Life service will be held in the summer in Sault Ste. Marie.
