Passed away peacefully, in her 88th year at the Sault Area Hospital on May 9, 2011 with her family by her side. Daughter of the late Alfred and Irene Dowding. Metta went to join her beloved husband, Johnny. Survived by her daughter, Sharon (Gary) Simmons and reunited with her children, the late Bob (late Susan) McMahan and the late Kathy (Tom) Pateman. Loving mother to her special daughters, Patty Noble and Anne Burch. Sister of the late Edna Becking, Elmer (Rose) Dowding and the late Bud (Erla) Dowding. Adored by her grandchildren, Jim (Josie) Pateman, Paul (Michelle) Pateman, Gary (Karen Wasslen) Simmons, Michele Simmons, Glenn (Cherie) Simmons, Stuart McMahan, Terri-Lynn (Billy) Barkley, Michael McMahan and 14 great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 3 pm at the West Korah Cemetery (Avery Road). Father James Rent officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Red Cross (Supportive Housing), A.R.C.H. or the Sault Area Hospital would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses on 3C for all the support and compassion during the past week.
