McKIBBON, Joyce Helen Gertrude (nee Drew)

Suddenly, at the Sault Area Hospital on Friday, December 19, 2008 at the age of 90 years. Beloved wife of the late Walter. Proud mother of the late Ernest. Daughter of the late Elsie and Ernie Drew. Joyce leaves behind 'her girls', Barbara and Roberta Bondar, cousin Patricia Spear (Wyck, UK), devoted friends Marian Okmanus, Gayle Smith, Harold Brain and her family of incomparable caregivers, Lori Aubrey and Marney Mills. Joyce devoted decades of community service to the Canadian Red Cross, St. Luke's Women's Auxilliary (Life Member), the Plummer Memorial Hospital Women's Auxilliary (Past President), helped inaugurate the Plummer Memorial Hospital Gift Shop. A trained soprano, Joyce was a featured concert performer and the first woman soloist of St. Luke's Cathedral Choir. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at St. Luke's Cathedral (160 Brock Street) on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Nelson Small officiating. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Joyce’s name to the Ontario Finnish Resthome, St. Luke’s Cathedral Choir, Sault Area Hospital, Canadian Red Cross, Algoma Residential Community Hospice or other local charity of your choice. Many thanks to the nurturing staff at the Ontario Finnish Resthome, and doctors and nurses on emergency and third floor at the Sault Area Hospital.
