Posted

February 5, 1925 – October 19, 2010 – Passed away peacefully at Mauno Kaihla Koti Nursing Home at OFRA, truly the “Home with a Heart”, on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in her 86th year. Loving wife of the late Peter McIntyre (1985). Respected mother of Susan McIntyre (Frank) and Ruth Beaumont (David). Grandma Jean of Andrew Beaumont (Ericka), Scott Beaumont (Natalia), Matthew Beaumont and Dylan Widlas. Sister of Dr. Edward Beaton (Gloria) and sister-in-law of Dr. Anita Beaton and Lois Menu. Special friend of Pat Forbes, Gillan Richards, Barb Clark, cousin Fran Adams and “Cousin Don” Cole. Jean had a generous spirit, a happy heart and a strong faith which helped sustain her during her 15 year struggle with Sjogren’s Syndrome. She enjoyed her teaching, her church, the Soo Greyhounds, playing bridge and sharing a joke. A Red Cross supporter and a political “reformist”, she was Canadian to the core. Prior to moving to the Ontario Finnish Rest Home, Jean embraced and enjoyed life at Collegiate Heights for almost five years. A very special thank you to OFRA for the attention and respect shown to mom during her final weeks. Mom’s wishes were honoured and attended to with compassion and dignity. Jean and her “girls” enjoyed their extended OFRA family during the last three months of her life. “Kitos”! Until we meet again, Tah Dah! Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 6 – 9 p.m. Funeral service celebrated from Westminster Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 10 a.m. Rev. John Wilson officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Canadian Red Cross Society and the Ontario Finnish Rest Home (MKK Nursing Home) would be appreciated by the family.
