It is broken hearts that we announce the passing of a much loved and respected son, brother, husband, father, grandpa, papa and friend at Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Friday, July 12th at 5:15 am surrounded by family.
Loving husband and best friend of Iris for 58 years. Cherished father of Bill, Chris (Helina), Murray (Lori) and Becky (Gary). Proud and adored Grandpa of Rachel (Ryan), Jamie (Frank), Alicia, Amanda (Brandon) and Miia (Ryan). Papa to the apples of his eyes Harley, Hunter, Grey, Grifin, Maverick, and "Papa Gigi" to little Liam. Beloved son of the late Maimie and Charles McGrath, dear brother of Blake (Zeni), the late Bill (June Opala), and Faye Wonnacott (Delmar). Surrogate brother-in-law of the late John Opala. Ron also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Anyone who knew Ron was aware of his big heart, compassion for others and sense of humour. Ron was a proud family man and loved nothing more than spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grand children. Ron loved to see others laugh and told jokes until the very end. He encouraged others to appreciate each day and not take life too seriously. He will be missed beyond measure by all.
A special thank you to the staff and volunteers at ARCH for their care and compassion. A celebration of Ron's life will be held at Grand Gardens North, Wednesday July 17th, 2019 from 4-6 pm. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque) to ARCH would be appreciated by the family in lieu of flowers.
