Posted

At the age of 82 Margaret passed away peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2011 at the home of her daughter Deborah in Thunder Bay. Beloved wife of Hans Scheibel who preceded her in death October 5, 2010. Margaret was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1928; she was one of 8 children and grew up during the war years. She is survived by one sister Agnes Campbell of Glasgow. She married Henry McGoldrick and immigrated to Canada in 1949. After a short stay (5 years) they returned to Scotland. Margaret became a single mother and took on the responsibility of raising her 5 children, Joe, Harry, Jack, Terry and Deborah. Times were tough, life was hard, but Margaret never failed to provide for her children. It was Margaret’s goal to get her children back to Canada as she believed they would have a better life and more opportunities. One by one (Joe, Harry, and Jack) she got them back to Canada, and in 1969 Margaret, son Terry and daughter Deborah arrived to start their new lives in Canada. Margaret worked as a clerk at Tom Allen Ladies Wear and took great pride in her work. After a year in Canada Margaret was introduced to Hans Scheibel and within a few months they married. Hans had 2 children, Jutta (Carmen) and Wendy (Ross) and a new blended family was formed. Margaret and Hans enjoyed their life together and their home was the centre of activity for the many family occasions and holidays. Margaret’s pride and joy was her house and garden and sitting outside in the summer. They enjoyed visiting family overseas and travelled to Scotland, Germany, Portugal, Florida, and Tenerife. As they got older and the travelling became more difficult they were very happy and content stay at home. Margaret was also predeceased by her sons Joe, Harry (Karen), and Terry (Cindy) and is survived by daughter Deborah and son Jack (Susan). Margaret was grandmother to Levin (Marla) Maggie, Jane, Ellie, Lacy (Josh), Lindsay (Tony), Katie (Sam), Gavin, Andrea (Dean), Lee (Rachelle), David, Erin, Barbara, Robert and great grandma to Charleigh, Bennett, Emily, Freya and Karmen. Also a very special Auntie to Clifford, Betty, Cliff and Chris Stirling of Brockville and Laurie McGoldrick of Hamilton.
