It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Larry James McDonald on March 9, 2023, in his 79th year.

Adored father of Lori (Bill) Cauduro and Dan McDonald. Brother of Donald McDonald (Cheryl).  Predeceased by his wife Judy and his parents James and Mariam McDonald and in-laws Curtis and Irene Broadwell.

Forever remembered as a man of endless stories, jokes and reciting poems as well as his mom. He was a businessman in his earlier years “Estateguard Life”, but his proudest moments were giving of his time to many volunteer organizations thru out the city. His most cherished was Sault Search and Rescue. He dedicated many many years as co-ordinator and loved every moment. He gained valued friendships throughout those years. Unfortunately, hearing loss took that passion away too early. He carried on with his other passions. The outdoors! Fishing, hunting and getting out to camp at Garden Lake.

Getting away with ‘the boys’ for a weekend of shenanigans at a fly in camp and or a get away in the bush were treasured for sure.

Retirement was spent at the lake whenever possible. “Happy hour on the deck” is where he loved to gather with friends and the stories would begin.

Well Dad, your memory has made its mark. On many lives. Not a single Bacardi and coke will be sipped without thoughts of you!!

As per Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with no services.

To the entire staff at Mauno Kaihla Koti Nursing Home and Dr. Perry, thank you for taking such good care of Larry. He had no idea he was in the presence of angels already!

Should you want to make a memorial donation, it may be made to Sault Search and Rescue. (Payable to by cheque).
