McCOMB, William John

Passed away suddenly at his home in Peace River, Alberta, on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the age of 50. Predeceased by his father William H. McComb. Survived by his wife Bev and his children Keith (Kelly) of Calgary and Matthew & Leanne at home. Son of Sue McComb and brother of Sandra (Derek) (Sarah, Tony, Brett) and Maurice (Chris) (Wes, Steve) all of Sault Ste. Marie. Son-in-law of Marion Cater of Surrey, B.C. Brother-in-law of Lois Brock of Kelowna, B.C. (James, Lesia), Jim Cater, Maple Ridge, B.C. (Cameron, Jody). Remembered by his Aunts and Uncles and Friends. Bill was born in Sault Ste. Marie. He moved to Vancouver in 1973 and soon started his Railway career as a trainman for B.C. Rail, then to CN Railway, the C.P. Railway, B.C. Hydro Railway as trainman, conductor and engineer then back to B.C. Rail as an engineer then Yardmaster. With a wife and three small children, his heart was still in the Sault so off to Algoma Central Railroad. He started as an engineer then was promoted to Rules & Safety Supervisor, later to be General Manager. He then hired on Railink in McLennan, Alberta in 1998. Residing in Peace River, Bill worked his way up to General Manager then became ill in October, 2000. He survived a liver transplant in June, 2003, then a car accident on December 10th, 2003. He was air ambulanced to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, then to the Peace River Hospital. He had been home for two weeks when he laid down for his final sleep when his heart could take no more. Our loss is great. He will always be in our hearts. Friends and family may call at the Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre on Tuesday, February 24th, 2004 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral service from the chapel of the Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre on Wednesday, February 25th, 2004 at 1 p.m. The Very Rev.
