Peacefully at A.R.C.H. on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the age of 91. Beloved husband and best friend of Vera (nee McClelland) for 69 years. Loving father of Darryle Matthews, E. Blaine Matthews (Lucy) and Michael Matthews (Rhonda). Cherished grandfather of April Lindemann (Aaron), Michael Matthews, Emily Matthews (Brandin) and Cayley Matthews. Great grandfather of Charlotte and Adeline Lindemann. Sadly missed by nieces and nephews, especially Ruth and Frank Robinson and family. As per Elwood's wishes, a private family service was held at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522). The Rev. Laurie Milito officiated. Interment to be held in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Gordon Lake Ontario. Memorial contributions to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (S.A.H.F.) Cancer Care Fund, Algoma Residential Community Hospice (A.R.C.H.) or to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
