Surrounded by family on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the age of 81.
Beloved husband of Maureen for 56 years. Loving father of Terri Bruno (Louis) and Lori Mason (Corey Evans). Grandpa of Joshua, Devin, Cole and Bailey. Great grandfather of 3. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Velma Mason and his siblings Ron Mason, Nancy Claridge (Dan) and Les Mason. Brother-in-law of Kay Goodkey and Jane Mason. Son-in-law of the late Etta and Harold Newman. Brother-in-law of Karen Couturier (late Wilbert), Nancy Delavalle, Jackie Coutts (Alan), Terry Newman, late Steven Newman (Chris) and the late Irwin Newman. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Richard loved sports and in his early years was very involved with baseball, hockey and curling. His dream was to have a house on the water which came true when he moved to Goulais River. He enjoyed life on the water, boating and fishing became his passion. Everyone will remember Richard by his quick wit and his unique sense of humour. We will miss that.
A Celebration of Life for Richard will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Sault Ste Marie Conservation Authority "Sugar Shack" (1100 Fifth Line East). Memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to the Alzheimer's Society or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
