September 2, 1951- October 13, 2023 - Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 72.

Survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years Keith Marshall.

Devoted mother to Tricia (W.T) Gough and Stacey Marshall.  Grandmother to Skylar Diotte and Kiah Marsh. Proud sister to late Donna (Vern) Robitaille (late Ellwood Syrette), Ted (Trella) Belleau, Theresa (Lee) Belleau and Jim (Anna) Belleau.  Sister in-law of Wilma (Bob) Dowe, Allan (late Monika), late Brian (Janet) and Brad (Brenda). Daughter in law of the late Bert (late Ena) Marshall. Special niece of Vi (late Allen) Catling, late Barney McCoy and the late Art (late Ethel) Marshall. Special niece of Vi (late Allen) Catling, late Barney McCoy and the late Art (late Ethel) Marshall. Aunt to many nieces, nephews and a special cousin to many.

Darlene was born to her parents Patricia and late Jim Belleau in Garden River Ontario, growing up along the banks of the Echo River. When she was admitted to the hospital at the age of 14, there was a lovely lady in her room that was her roommate and this is where it began. A young boy showed up to visit his mother and the attraction was immediate. This partnership and devotion would continue throughout Darlene’s life journey.  Married on 25 October 1969 the couple soon welcomed two daughters, Tricia and Stacey Marshall.  Life with a young family proved tough but their ongoing devotion to each other and their family, combined with their tenacious character allowed them to defeat any hardship that came their way.  Darlene lived with a great pride for her culture and heritage, and strived to share these teachings at every opportunity.  Her love of family was immediately evident to anyone that had the privilege and honour of meeting her.  We will never forget the shimmer in her eyes as she took a seat next to the campfire surrounded by family and good friends, and recited stories of her youth, and the early years of raising her family with her love and soulmate Keith.

Be assured that whenever a campfire is lit, and family and friends gather to share love and companionship, Darlene’s spirit and wisdom will be felt and respected.  Until we meet again, rest peaceful and be assured that you have set the foundation to a strong family.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Sault Area Hospital staff, with special thanks to Dr. Fera, Dr. Gravelle and Dr Buehner, and all the emergency room nurses for their compassion and care at such a difficult time. Thanks to the nursing staff on 3B and 3C for their heartfelt assistance. Special gratitude to Erica from Paramed.

We would like to thank Tedi-Lynn Nolan for her thoughtfulness and assistance in preparing for Darlene’s journey to the Spirit World. Your presence alone was a comfort to all.
