It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my Mom, Muriel (nee Hutchings) at the age of 92 in Ottawa on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Loving wife of the late George (Sandy) Marr, and mother of Allison. Predeceased by her parents, Marjorie and Roy Hutchings, her sister Aileen Dykes (late John) and her brother Bill (late Helen). Survived by her sister Lois Hutchings. Sister-in-law of the late Gordon and Jean Marr, and the Iate Ian and Eleanor Marr. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Muriel was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and moved with her family throughout western Canada until settling in Fort William (Thunder Bay) in her early teens. After graduating high school and vocational school, Muriel worked as a legal secretary for Weiler, Weiler and Maloney in Fort William specializing in real estate until her marriage in January 1958. Muriel and Sandy then settled in Sault Ste. Marie where they spent the next 60 years in a community they both loved. Muriel was an active volunteer throughout the years with Meals on Wheels, the Davey Home, and Christmas Cheer, and was an active member of the UCW, Unit 5 at St. Andrews United Church. She loved to golf, garden, play bridge, watch hockey and curled for several years as a senior. In 2018, Muriel moved to a seniors residence in Ottawa where she has spent the last few years living close to Allison.

Friends may visit at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522 COVID Restrictions are to be followed, masks are required) on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Memorial service to follow in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. As a final note, Allison wishes to send a special thank you to our friends past and present, on Oregon Road for all their support over many, many years.
