It is with heartfelt sadness the family of Robert Alphonse Marquis announce his sudden passing at home on Thursday, December 29th, 2022 at the age of 70. Surrounded by the love of his family. His wife Penny (nee Cooney) of 47 years, daughter Dayna Anne and son Travis James.
Robert was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The son of the late Henri and Hélène Marquis. Loving brother of Jack (Myra), Charles (late Patt), Lina Bylsma (Jack) and late brother Daniel (Olga). Brother in-law of Sandra Petzel (Bill) and Scott Cooney. Loving uncle to Dylan (Jane), Maggie (Dave), Megan (Chris), Lauren (Kevin), the late Martin, Céline Élise (Torben), Amanda (Sean), Jillian (Henry), and Nathan.
Robert began his employment with Algoma Central Railway as a conductor at the age of 17 and retired as an engineer with CN in 2013. He had a great love for his family, the outdoors, trains, bonfires, family gatherings, road trips, his family pets, movies and being out on the water with his brother to catch a few fish or enjoy a relaxing boat ride. He had the most joyous and infectious laugh when he heard a good joke. His presence and love will be forever missed.
Family and friends are invited to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East, 705-759-2522) on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Memorial service to follow at 2 pm. Mrs. Helen Smith officiating.
