Passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, June 29th, 2023 at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice in his 93rd year.

Beloved husband of the late Alba (nee Coleffi). Precious and treasured father of Michael (Valerie). Step-Grandfather of Kylee (Ryan) and Tyler. Deda of Jordy. Son of the late Michael and Rina Maich. Brother of the late John (Sophie), late Bessie Wheatley (late Bill), and the late Mickey Vrbanac (late Frank). Predeceased by brother and sister in laws Evelyn Braido (Gino), Elia Amaroso (Alex), Aurora Delbianco (Neilo), Gordon Coleffi (Marie), Velma Cedolia (Guido), Eva Chaon (Leroy), and Helen Running (Tom). Toshy will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Toshy was very athletic in his younger years. He was an excellent infielder, playing softball in his teenage years with the Senior Mens Marconi Esquires. He was and excellent goaltender, playing through several levels of hockey and ending with the Sault Senior Greyhounds in the 1950s. He represented Sault Ste. Marie for 10 years in both hockey and baseball at Northern Ontario and All-Ontario championships. He was elected into the Sault Ste. Marie Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009. Toshy received invitations from Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings to attend their training camps. He declined the invitations, instead to work in the family business "The New Toronto Hotel" on James Street.

One of his greatest joys was time spent at his cottage in beautiful Batchawana Bay. He enjoyed working on the property, family gatherings, friends dropping by and most of all....all day bonfires. He was a kind, thoughtful, generous soul who enjoyed life.

The family would like to thank the staff at Great Northern Retirement Home, Sault Area Hospital and ARCH for the care and compassion given to Toshy.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 12 pm until 1:30 pm. Funeral service to be held in the Fireside Room at 2 pm. Mr. Peter Aceti officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions payable by cheque or online to A.R.C.H. or the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Maich family.

And now, the end is here and so I face the final curtain.
My friend I'll say it clear I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full I travelled each and every highway
And more, much more than this I did it "My Way".

Memories and Condolences
