It is with deep sorrow that the family announces Matt's sudden passing on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the age of 42.  Matt leaves behind his loving wife and soulmate Yvonne, his adored children Mason, Hannah and Lylah who he was very proud of.  Also left to mourn are his loving mother Cheryl Mowbray (Ashley), father Scott Mahoney, his sister Catherine, step brother Greg and step sister Carly.  Matt is also survived by his cherished grandmother Barb Mahoney and predeceased by his grandparents William Mahoney, Joyce and Herbie Mitchell.  Dear son-in-law of Catherine and the late Yves Lapointe.  Brother-in-law of Amie Sicoly (Mike) and Renee Buczel (Patrick).  Life long best friends of Jason Chanda and Jimmy Flint.  Proud Uncle Matt of Annie, Chelsea, Hailey, Chloe, Flora and River.  Matt was loved and will be greatly missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and true life long friends.

Matt was a proud member of the United Steelworkers Local 9548 and will be greatly missed by his union brothers and sisters.  He spent 20 dedicated years as a furnace operator at Tenaris.  In his time off, you would find him with his family in his beloved Goulais River home on Lake Superior.

Special thank you to the staff at Sault Area Hospital as well as Matt's coworkers who tried so hard to revive Matt.
