MacTavish, Mr Hubert Floyd

Floyd MacTavish of Iron Bridge, Ontario was suddenly but peacefully taken home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2010 at the age of 89 years. Floyd is survived by his wife Shirley ( nee Tulloch ) and their 3 sons; Michael and his wife Tara and their two daughters Kate and her husband John and Melissa, Richard and his wife Star and their two children Lane and Krystal and Kevin and his wife Phyllis and their son Cedar. Floyd is also survived by his sister Kathleen Grigg, his sister Reta Barrie and his brother Douglas and his wife Margaret. He is survived by many loved nephews and nieces. Floyd is predeceased by his sister Laura MacKay, brother Harry, brother George and brother Kenneth. Floyd grew up in Lanark, Ontario. He proudly served his country in World War II. In 2005 he was invited to return to Holland along with the other surviving veterans to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Holland. It was a proud moment to watch Dad march past the cheering Dutch people waving Canadian flags, honouring Canadian war veterans. Floyd was humbled to realize the effect his service continues to have on the people of Holland. Floyd had a successful career as a corrections officer with the Ontario Government. Friends may call at the Thessalon Bible Chapel on Friday March 5, 2010 from 12 noon until time of service at 2 o’clock. Spring interment in Carlyle Cemetery, Iron Bridge.
