MACNAMARA, Dr. John

Passed away on April 29, 2013 at the Sault Area Hospital. Born March 22, 1925 to the late John and Rachel Macnamara in the city of Hamilton, Ontario. Survived by his wife Mary Jane and four sons; John (Debbie), Dean (Penny), Peter (Cathy) and Stephen. Grandfather of Charlie, Shannon, Kathryn, Rachel, Heather, John, David, Keely and Peter. Great grandfather of Juliette, Jack, Madeleine, Hailey, Conor and Brayden. Dear brother of Shirley Macnamara, Ruth Bourque (Bill) and Joan McConnell (late Bill). A PhD graduate from McMaster University he came to the Sault in 1951 and started in the chemistry lab at Algoma Steel. John worked hard until he achieved the position of President and later Chairman and CEO. Known throughout his tenure as “A Gentleman”. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 6 – 9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10 am. Interment West Korah Cemetery.
