It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maxine at Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 with her family by her side. Loving wife of John for 29 years. Dear Mother of Debby Brogno (Frank), Tim Candido (Linda), Jim Candido (Patricia) and Dean Candido (Andrea). Stepmom of Cindy Ougler (Jeffrey) and Corrie MacKinnon. Grandmother of Tricia Lesnick (Mike), Joey Brogno (Lisa), Jason Candido (Lauren), Brian Candido (Tricia), Ryan Candido (Sarah), Shaylyn Candido (Sean) , Mikayla Candido (Ben), Nathan MacKinnon, Gregston, Tyneeka, Jeffton and Jeramiah Hunter. Great Grandmother of 10. Predeceased by her parents Athlene and Jesse Finlayson. Daughter-in-law of the late Liz and Hector MacKinnon. Cherished sister of Dewayne Finlayson (late Lena), late Deanna Pettingalo (late Domenic), late Jeddy Finlayson and Marty Finlayson. Special Auntie to Kim Caporossi (Terry), Teri and Tammy Finlayson and best friend of Elaine Maida (Bob).

Maxine was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie but her family roots were in Sylvan Valley, Echo Bay where her parents were born. The family celebrated Christmas Eve together in the Sylvan Valley Hall for many years while her parents were alive and spent a lot of time at her brother Dewayne’s camp on McCarrols Lake where bluegrass music always filled the air. Maxine had a great sense of humour and made many friends during her working years. She was quite the fashionista and carried it off with style and class. She loved country music, her little dogs Harley and Mia, company for coffee and a visit and when she was well would follow the Pipes and Drums of the 49th Field Regiment to watch John play the bass drum in the many area parades.

Maxine battled many serious health issues with strength and courage. The family sends a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and doctors at SAH with a special thank you to Dr Hemy, Dr. Fratesi, Dr. Booth for their care and kindness over the years. Thank you to the nurses and staff at ARCH for helping to make the last weeks of her life comfortable. Your compassion and caring will always be remembered. In keeping with her wishes a private service and internment at Greenwood Cemetery will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to ARCH would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522).
