Passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice "ARCH" at the age of 74. Predeceased by her loving husband John "Jack". Loving and devoted mother to Donald (Susan), Rhonda (Ken) McMillan, Marsha (Fred) MacDonald-Gagnon, William (Bill), Norman (Darlene) and Mary Margaret (Peggy) (Scott) Brunton. Cherished and respected grandmother of Angela (Louie) Petkovic, Michael, Jonathon and Kurtis MacDonald, Nicholas and Jeffrey Brunton, Ashley and Ellysha MacDonald. Step-grandmother to Dawn (Guy), Brent (Megan), Terri and Kevin (Dana) and step-great grandmother of 8. Daughter of the late Helen and John Garson. Sister of Helen (late Charles) St. John, the late Jack (Penny Garson-Willet), Lois (late Lawrence) Andrews, Bob (Anne), Jim (Wendy), Gladys (George) Cameron, Glenn (late Wilma), Phyllis (Randy) Whalen and Harold (Teresa). Daughter in law of the late Isabel and Ernie Hopkin. Sister in law of the late Jerry (Rainie) Hopkin. Margaret will be sadly missed by her aunts Ilene and Jane, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and especially all of her long time friends and neighbours. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 6 - 9 pm. Funeral service in the chapel on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 11 am. Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. Interment Desbarats Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to ARCH are greatly appreciated. Margaret was a member of the Rebekahs, Oddfellows and the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary where she was valued for her ongoing volunteering. She recently received with pride and honour the Rebekah's "Medal of Merit" and her 30 year pin. Margaret's family would like to thank and recognize all the caring staff and volunteers who work diligently to create a warm and comfortable home atmosphere for the residents and their families.
