Grief:
For those of us who understand,
no explanation is needed,
For those of us who do not,
no description is possible - Fran Solomon

Our family is in total disbelief to announce the passing of a wonderful human being, Rick.  We are shattered with grief in his passing surrounded by family at home.  We had hoped Rick's days with us were longer, but God must have felt he had endured much suffering and wanted him to be in a better place.

Rick was the sole child and much loved son of the late Mabel and Clayton MacDonald and endearing son-in-law of the late Rinaldo and Cecilia Giustini,  He leaves behind his wife and best friend, Iole (Giustini) of nearly 34 years, his wonderful children that he doted on, was proud of, and thought the world of, Ricky Jr., and Shelby and her husband Steven Marino, whom Rick had a special bond with.  He will be missed by his kind-hearted brother-in-law Peter Giustini who was Rick's right-hand man and helped in any way possible.  He is survived by brother-in-law Domenic Giustini (Ancaster, ON) and nieces Amanda (her daughter Luna) and Meagan Giustini.  Lest we forget his yorkie poo, Budweiser (Buddy).  Bud was his medicine, his therapist and loyal companion/friend.  They were the light in each other's world.  Rick will be missed by his awesome neighbours, who he enjoyed having a beverage or two with, his many boating friends in Cheboygan, and his special friends, Bill Tucker and Paula Wright.

Even when the chips were down Rick managed to crack a joke and make light of any situation.  He showed tremendous strength, determination and resilience in the way he lived his life.  In earlier years Rick raced modified cars, worked at Northern Breweries and sold vehicles at Boston's.  He was the recipient of Sales Marketing Guild for achievement of highest standard in automotive sales.  Rick was personable and loved by many for his sense of hunour.

Our gratitude to Dr. Peter Maione, his physician who went above and beyond the call of duty to provide care to Rick for many years.  Appreciation to Dr. Beuhner, Palliative Care Program, and oncologists Drs. Pearce and Rassouli, Bayshore nurses and Eric Evans, OT who checked on us regularly to ensure we had everything needed for Rick.  We would also like to thank River's Edge Cremation Centre for their compassion and care.  A private family service will be held.  Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522).  Memorial contributions payable by cheque or online to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.  Please visit Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave memories and condolences as a keepsake for the family.
