MAAKUMPU, Esko Johannes –
Passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024, with his best friend, Raija by his side in his 95th year.
Beloved partner of Raija Ritokoski and loving father to Anita Marsch (Paul).
Esko leaves behind his sister Anja Leivo in Finland, niece Anne Markkula (Leo) and nephews Pertti Mutikainen and Matti Marsch in Sweden as well as his extended family, especially Neil Ritokoski.
Esko is predeceased by his wives, Saimi (1969) and Ruth (1995), his parents Vieno and Lauri Maakumpu, sister Soili Mutikainen (2024), brother-in-law Osmo Mutikainen (2006) as well as stepchildren Lisa and Andrea Simmons.
At this time, cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held at a later date. In Esko’s memory, memorial donations made to The Ontario Finnish Resthome Association are greatly appreciated (payable by cheque or online).
