Passed away in her 93rd year in Sault Ste. Marie after a very long healthy and happy life; following a courageous struggle against a devastating stroke on August 1st, 2009. Joy was the loving daughter of Kate and Joseph King of Dawlish-Devon, England. Predeceased in 1987 by her very dear and loving husband John Eric Lind. Loving Mum of the late Gary (1941 - 9 months), Tony and Fran of Markham, Ontario, the late Peter (1993) and Carolyn of Markham, Ontario and dearest Mom of Neil Lind and Carol Tahti of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Grammie loved, nurtured and mentored her 7 grandchildren: Michael, Gary and Natalie, Gillian and Bart, Marc and Bryce (Jodie) Lind. Joy is predeceased by her brother Fred (Ester) and sister Ena Hayes (Jim) all of Dawlish-Devon, England. Joy is survived by her favorite nephew Martin King (Angela), Lyme Regis of England, her neices Sarah Williams (Tony) of England, Susan Walker (Stewart) of Richmond Hill, Ontario and many dear and loved great nieces and nephews and cherished sweet great great nieces and nephews in Scotland, England, Australia, Ontario and Alberta. Joy was also precious to many Lind nieces and nephews in Alberta, Ontario, U.S.A. and Italy. Joy will be lovingly remembered by a host of family friends. All friends are respectfully asked to join the family to Celebrate Mom's Life and Legacy on Saturday, August 29th from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00ish at Algoma University's Shingwauk Chapel to be followed by a celebration reception at the Speak Easy Lounge at Algoma University from 1:00 - 3:30'ish. Mom asks you to park in the Algoma University Parking Lot and requests that you dress casually. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to Algoma Residential Community Hospice (A.R.C.H.).
