At home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, January 25th at the age of 61. Beloved husband and best friend of Vicki (Oswin) for 35 years. Loving father of Alana (Sergio) and Christopher Lewis and Nadia Fowlis (Michael). Cherished son of Maitland and the late Kathryn Lewis (nee Hagan). Son in law of the late Fred and Shirley Oswin (nee Stanghetti.) Dear brother of Judith Kovala (late John) (Scott) and Robin Lewis-Palmer (Gary.) Brother-in-law of Jeannine Crossley (Ray), Cal Oswin (Cynthia), Joanne Oswin (Kylie), and Natalie Oswin. Incredibly special uncle to Stephanie and Andrew Kovala, Rebecca and Laura Palmer, David and Jennifer (Paul) Crossley, Noreen Oswin-McLarty (Brad) and Alison Oswin, Ezha Oswin, Jenna and Vanessa Oswin-Campbell and great uncle to Evelyn McLarty.
Brent’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband to Vicki, affectionately known as her “Prince”. Brent was the most dedicated father and led his family with a gentle strength. He was a terrific storyteller, a guiding moral compass, and a constant inspiration. He put the needs, interests, and goals of his children above all else. Brent’s happiest times were spent surrounded by his family at Big Basswood Lake.
After completing his MBA, Brent joined his parents in growing and developing the family automotive business.  Throughout a career spanning more than 40 years, Brent earned a reputation for being genuine, soft-spoken and a man of his word - he was a true gentleman.  Brent was blessed with an innate ability to see and bring out the best in everyone. An exceptionally hard worker, Brent shared a mutual respect and affection for the many people he encountered everyday - customers and colleagues both local and across the automotive industry. He considered the staff at Maitland Ford Lincoln his friends and second family.
A longtime member, and past president of the Rotary Club of Sault Ste Marie, Brent exemplified the Rotarian motto of “service above self.” This was demonstrated repeatedly by his involvement with and unfailing dedication to many projects and committees benefitting the Sault Ste. Marie community, of which he was so proud.
Brent faced pancreatic cancer with strength and dignity, maintaining a positive outlook and finding joy in each day. He was extremely humbled by and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support bestowed on him since his diagnosis. A special thank you to Dr. Spadafora, Louise and the entire cancer unit.  We are so grateful for the exceptional care he received from all members of the healthcare team at Sault Area Hospital. Special thanks as well to the Bayshore HealthCare team, especially Lee, Monica and Suzie for their excellent and compassionate homecare.
If friends so desire, memorial donations payable by cheque or online may be made to the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Fund, Central United Church or The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie.
