It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of DAVID ONNI LEHTONEN, age 64, at the Sault Area Hospital on the 23rd of December, 2011. Best friend and loving husband of Delores for 30 years, and cherished father of Karen (his little princess). Survived by sister Sylvia (BC), predeceased by his sisters Linda and Hilkka, brothers Pentti, Rauni, Eric, baby Albert, and his parents Onni & Elli. He will be missed and fondly remembered by his good friends, relatives, nieces and nephews and his faithful dog Benny. David was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his many hunting and fishing trips with his buddies. He enjoyed camping and he had great memories of the years he spent at Dog Lake and lately Camp Dorset. He enjoyed travelling and singing good ole country tunes, as well as visiting family and friends. Cooking was a passion he shared with his daughter. His SISU got him through the difficult times and he made the best of each day. A celebration of David’s life will be held in Thunder Bay on December 27th 2011, at the Victoria Inn at 7:00 pm. Del and Karen would like to thank the staff on the Dialysis Unit at the Sault Area Hospital for all the care they gave to David. Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Dialysis Unit of the Sault area Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
