Peacefully passed away on Thursday May 19th, surrounded by family at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Mary for 66 years. Loving father of Roman (Alicja) Kuskowicz, Irene (late Helmut) Brandstetter, Theresa (Doug) Gregory, and Luise (Ken) Morano. John was proud grandfather to Robert (Karen) Brandstetter, Thomas Brandstetter, Jennifer (Mark) Gernon, David Gregory, Michael (Roxanne) Morano, Christopher (Sarah) Morano and Sarah Morano; great grandfather to Anika and Darius Brandstetter, Mia and Patrick Gernon, Isabel and Nora Morano, Lauren and Nigel Morano. Born in Chmelnik, Poland, John was displaced from his home due to the Second World War and was forced to work in Germany. After the war ended, he moved to Belgium and later to Canada to provide a better life for his family. He worked hard all of his life and retired from Algoma Steel in 1983. During his retirement he enjoyed gardening and traveling to Poland and other places around the world. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Visitation at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 705-759-2522 from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday May 29, 2011. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish by Father Boguslaw Jaroszek on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 10 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
